Trincomalee Shankari devi – First Among 18 Shakti Peethas

‘Lankayam Shankari Devi……… starts the Sloka of Ashta Dasha Shakti Peethas, written by Sri Jagadguru Aadi Shankaracharya.
Shankari Devi temple in Tricomalee, Srilanka is a prominent temple for Hindus. But, it is most rarely visited and it is very least popular in all AstaDasha Shakti peethas.
There is no information available about Shankari Devi even in internet.
Shanakri Devi Temple is situated in an east coast town of Srilanka, Tricomalee (Tri – Cona – Malai = a triangular hill).
Along with the temple of Shaankari Devi, there is a temple of Lord Shiva – TRIKONESHWARA Temple.
Portuguese people demolished these temples in 17th century.

Durga Navratri Puja In Badrakali Temple – Warangal

Badrakali – the Goddess of prosperity is situated in Hanamkonda, Warangal district of Telangana region in Andhra Pradesh. Badrakali is the terrible form of Goddess Durga Devi. According to Asuras (Demons), Maa Badrakali is the violent form of Goddess of prosperity – Durga / Shambhavi/ Amba / Jagadamba.
During the Telugu month of ‘Sravana’, in Badrakali Temple, ‘Shakambari Devi Utsavaalu’ are held. During this Utsav, Badrakali Ammavaru is shown as Shakambari Devi. Shakambari Devi – Goddess Badrakali is dressed up with vegetables (Shaka = Vegetables , Ambari = alankar).

Durga Navratri In Vijayawada

Vijayawada – named after the Supreme Goddess’s super powers. Kanaka Durga, the deity of the city, is also known as Durga Bhavani.
Durga Navratri is celerbated with utmost devotion in Vijayawada. In VIjayawada, Goddess Kanaka Durga temple is situated on the bank of Krishna river. This temple of the Goddess has a puranic explanation about ‘Indrakeeladri Hill’ where it is situated.
Vijayawada Navaratri celebrations are one of the most popular Navratri event in South Indian states.
